SHIPPERS OF PLASTICS AND CHEMICALS:

The primary constituency for PLG is the shipper community. However, we recognize that not all shippers share the same perspectives on the market, and many shippers have special needs and considerations that must be factored into any logistics solution that PLG develops.

A. Major commodity resin and chemical producers

Many of our senior team members have come from the world of the major producers. Accordingly, we are highly cognizant of the distribution and logistics issues major producers often face, such as consignment sales, management of large railcar fleets, railcar storage/SIT, large rail transportation costs, SAP and other ERP programs, and complex supply and demand chains. As producers typically have existing logistics management staff, our role is often to augment those groups to help find improved efficiencies and cost reduction opportunities. We are a resource to producers who need to keep abreast of the latest logistics strategies and ideas but lack enough time or personnel to fully pursue all opportunities for savings.

B. Resin brokers/distributors

PLG has worked with a number of leading companies in this field. In the world of brokering and distributing resins, competitors must differentiate themselves while still attempting to remain price competitive with a commodity product. We understand that quality distribution, as part of the overall sales process, is a fundamental “deliverable” for brokers and distributors. In addition, there are the logistics challenges that come with spot purchasing of materials, and the “flip” side of strategic sourcing when orders are in-hand. PLG understands all of these issues and can streamline your processes, network, and technology to help you compete.

C. Importers/foreign producers

The import of plastics and chemicals into North America presents unique challenges for freight transportation, material handling, inventory management, and seamless delivery to the buyer. PLG has experience in putting together complex supply chain solutions for foreign producers of plastics and chemicals. Our achievements in this area include creating supply chains that are seamless to the buyer, and instill a level of comfort and confidence in the target market. Importers and foreign producers usually lack internal domestic logistics expertise, and are able to use PLG for not only strategic guidance, but also for turnkey logistics solutions.
